Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion are integral to our mission and our everyday lives. Diversity includes characteristics of ethnicity, gender identity, sexual orientation, age, religion, abilities, socioeconomic background, and veteran status, in addition to differences in backgrounds, experiences, values, beliefs and ideas. Embracing our differences makes us better leaders, students, researchers, educators, and individuals. These values are intertwined within our practices, events, and outreach.
Equity is intrinsic to the Security Daemons as we provide fair and equal access to opportunities and resources for all our members. In sustaining and building an atmosphere where equity and respect are prioritized, we create a caring and successful team where we attract and retain people that are passionate about cybersecurity and feel comfortable contributing their unique skills, ideas, perspectives, and experiences.
Inclusivity requires mutual respect, acknowledgement, and acceptance of our differences. Being inclusive enables us to draw out our strengths as researchers, learners, and students to unify as one cohesive body. As our values and mission are intertwined, we foster a community where every member of the Security Daemons feels supported and inspired in our common pursuit of security.
We recognize that the work of the Security Daemons takes place on Indigenous lands and in Indigenous spaces that over 100 tribal nations call home. Our organization resides on the ancestral lands of the Potawatomi, Ojibew, and Odawa nations who signed the Treaty of Chicago in 1821 and in 1833. We extend our respect to all of them, including the Ho-Chunk, Myaamia, Menominee, Illinois Confederacy, and Peoria people who also maintained relationships with this land. In the spirt of Saint Vincent de Paul, we reaffirm our commitment to help make our community a more equitable space for all.

Wifi Intro to Hardware and Wireless Security (with live demos)
Location: Jarvis Center Classroom C112F
Operator: Joel John
Operator Bio: Cybersecurity professional with over 5 years in the industry, currently working in incident response and digital forensics. Initially, I specialized in a red team role as a Security Consultant at Synopsys, where I was heavily involved in Offensive Security and Penetration testing across network and application security. Got all the street cred with the OSCP, OSWP and CRTP. Later, I pivoted into the DFIR space, found dumpster fires more intriguing than writing a pentest report and now work on active ransomware incidents and forensic projects at Charles River Associates. Outside of cyber, I love soccer, FC Barcelona and Mustangs!
Duration: 4:00 - 5:30
Description: Come learn how to hack embedded devices! We will have sessions explaining the basics you will need to start your hardware hacking journey and test devices around you! We will also cover basics so you understand how we can exploit hardware flaws in devices around us and how to hack a wireless access point. Duration: 12:30 - 2:30
Description: Whether you’re breaking systems, defending them, or doing both, most security professionals don’t need more tools—they need more time, focus, and leverage. This workshop explores how agentic AI can support day-to-day red team, blue team, and purple team work by reducing cognitive overhead and accelerating analysis. Participants learn vibe hacking: a hands-on approach to steering AI behavior toward useful outcomes like hypothesis generation, synthesis, and prioritization. Through practical exercises using a reference interactive AI toolset, attendees experiment with workflows that help them deliver higher-quality results under real-world constraints—without automating humans out of the loop.
BYO Materials Needed: Laptop with internet access
Join us for a full day of hacking, learning, and connecting with the security community.
